There were over 4,000 beers entered into competition at the Great American Beer Festival this year, and it takes a lot of manpower to evaluate them all. The Brewers Association has posted a short video that shows the process and logistics behind the GABF competition and it is a big job!
I have a ton of respect for beer judges; they’ve got a tough job – even if their job is to drink beer! It takes a lot of training and discipline to cultivate a palate that is discerning and sensitive, and they need to be at the top of their game when they sit down to judge the ridiculous numbers of beers that get put in front of them for each session.
