Golden Road Brewing Debuts “Surfliner” Imperial IPA *Updated*

If you’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy a glass of beer on the patio at the Golden Road Pub then you’ve no doubt witnessed the Amtrak Surfliner train whizzing by and sounding the horn while patrons raised their glasses. Starting this evening you can toast the train’s passing with the newest brew from Golden Road Brewing: Surfliner IPA.
The 9%ABV Imperial IPA is getting tapped at 5pm this evening (along with some more of the fan-favorite El Hefe Anejo). This is what the brewery has to say about the newest member of the IPA family:
Surfliner IPA is a stronger, more bitter IPA than our Point the Way. The light tropical fruit and citrus of Point the Way is replaced by strong piney and ripe fruit hop aromas. The hop flavor is slightly more bitter and the maltiness is slightly more pronounced with the 9% ABV backbone. The alcohol presence is also certainly more evident, with a light warming linger.
Sounds fantastic to us, and we look forward to trying it! If you sample the new beer this weekend, we’d love to hear from you!
Update: We just heard from the Pub at Golden Road, and they’ve told us that the Surfliner will be available to-go in the 32oz. growlitos! Now that’s a good way to kick-off a Friday!
