Eagle Rock Brewery led the cadre of Southland craft breweries who took home prizes from last weekend’s San Diego International Beer Competition when their sour blonde ale Equinox won the Best In Show award. See the breakdown of LA breweries to medal after the break.
ERB’s Equinox took gold in the Other Sour Beer category, and Unionist was also awarded the gold in the Belgian-Style Pale Ale category. You can read more about the brewery’s reaction to their big win in my post for the Daily Dish.
The Bruery was awarded the most medals of the LA and OC breweries with four total: a gold for Saison Tonnellerie, silvers for White Chocolate and Oude Tart, and a bronze for Hottenroth.
Beachwood Brewery took home a gold and a silver for Hop Vader and Barrel Aged Full Malted Jacket respectively.
Firemans Brew also scored a gold and a silver. The Brunette – easily the brewer’s best beer – won gold as a German Style Bock, and their Blonde – which they call a “Pilsner Style Lager” was awarded silver as an American Style Lager.
Hangar 24‘s 4th Anniversary Ale won them a gold in the specialty Beer race, and LA brewpub the San Pedro Brewing Company took the top spot in the Pilsner category. (SPBC has been under our radar, we gotta get out their to try the brews!)
Congrats to all the winners! It’s great to see Los Angeles breweries getting some well-deserved recognition.
