It’s been one hell of a year for LA beer, and the celebration of everything sudsy and craft in Los Angeles – LA Beer Week – begins on Thursday! The LA Beer Bloggers have one of our most exciting events on-tap for Saturday the 21st; join us at Angel City Brewery for Summit #7 featuring a panel discussion moderated by yours truly and plenty of beer (including Angel City’s special LABW brew).
LA Beer Week officially kicks-off on Thursday, September 19th, and the traditional beer festival at Union Station has been moved from the final weekend to the first Sunday of LA Beer Week. Tickets to that gala are going fast, so don’t wait too long to purchase them if you want to experience the new format for the official event.
LA Beer Bloggers Summit #7
I sit on the board for the LA Beer Bloggers group, and we’re dedicated to growing beer culture in Los Angeles through the development and promotion of all the excellent beer blogs, web sites, instagram feeds, and other social media outlets that have been so important to the craft beer revolution. Craft beer is about people, and LA has an amazing and diverse group of dedicated writers, photographers, cheerleaders, and fans that have the power to help Los Angeles grow and develop into a premier craft beer city.
The LA Beer Blogger Summits are events that are about networking and education, and I’m particularly excited about this next summit. We’ve put together a panel of professional writers, editors, and journalists who will speak about how to best cover the growing LA beer scene, how to capture – and keep – an audience, and how to take your skills to the next level.
The panelists include:
Sarah Bennett – Journalist and Executive Editor of the Long Beach Post, Sarah is one of LA’s premier beer writers. She covers the scene for the LA Weekly’s Squid Ink blog, and her work has been featured in everything from Beer Paper LA to Beer Advocate to CNN.com.
Tomm Carroll – Long-time beer writer and contributor for the Celebrator Beer News magazine, Tomm has been covering the craft beer scene in Los Angeles since before there was a craft beer scene in Los Angeles. A journalist, editor, historian, and advocate for craft beer culture, I’m stoked to have his perspective and experience on the panel.
Whitson Gordon – Editor in Chief of Gawker Media’s Lifehacker (where I cut my pro-blogging teeth), Whiston may not be involved in the craft beer scene, but he knows his way around running a professional blog. He will provide some different perspectives on how to best develop an audience and how to write effectively in the TL;DR age.
In addition to the panel discussion, there will be plenty of Angel City brews on-tap, lots of bloggers, photographers, and beer-media people to connect with, and more!
The LABB Summit #7 is Saturday, September 21st at 1pm at the Angel City Brewery in the Arts District.
The event is free, just RSVP on the Facebook page and bring some cash for the bar. I hope to see you on Saturday!
