LA Beer Week’s 1st Weekend: Open Thread!

Did you survive the first 4 days of LA Beer Week 2012? What events did you attend? What was your favorite beer from the weekend? Stop by the comments section of this post and share your thoughts and experiences on LABW so far, or what you are most looking forward to for the rest of the celebration!

The events so far have been great! The Stone event in Pasadena was fantastic, and it was so great to see so much of the craft beer community celebrating the new Stone Company Store…
Better Weather Fest was a lot of fun – maybe some extra fans next year, or actually institute the VIP Cold Room….
The Eagle Rock Brewers Brunch was a lot of fun too! Nice to have a more casual event after the BWF craziness to wind down and enjoy some of the awesome Unity Berliner Rye (SO DELICIOUS!)
Very much looking forward to the Dogfish/Little Bear dinner this evening, and Union Station for sure!!
DFH/Little Bear dinner should be pretty wild!
So far, soooooo goooood!!! The Better Weather Fest (ironically name?) was a great, fest-y way to kick things off this weekend. Missed out of the Bruery’s Sour Opal, but hopefully can find some more around town this week somewhere. Drinking and stocking up on as much UNITY 2012 as I can, too! Looking forward to Ancient Ales dinner tonight at Little Bear (DTLA) w/ Dogfish Head.
Second Julie’s suggestion for a cold room at the next summertime Golden Road festival for VIP ticket holders and more enormous factory-size fans for everyone. The brewery tour at Golden Road was a special highlight; so great (and impressive!) seeing all the expansion they’ve done in there the past 6 months or so.
BWF was a good time! I liked that it was more than “just” a ton of breweries pouring beer. There were games, and tours, and some awesome food trucks too. Seemed like the turn-out was good, but there were never lines for beer!
BWF was great. Aside from the crazy heat, I thought everything went really well. My top 5 from the fest:
5. Angel City IPA
4. Firestone’s Opal
3. Cismontane’s Nocturne (Double Imperial Stout)
2. Eagle Rock’s Unity
1. Ladyface’s 1st Anniversay Quad
Honorable mention to Dale’s Pale Ale on Farm Fresh Chinook.
I had forgotten about the fresh-hop Dale’s! Thanks for reminding me, that one was quiet nice!
