New Beer of Tomorrow Correspondent Mark hits the Westside sausage spot and reports on their home brew demo! You’ve got two more chances to catch a demo at Wurstküche Venice and get a sticker for your LA Beer Week Bucket List!

For LA Beer Week, Wurstküche in Venice is putting on three home brew demonstrations and is presenting three different styles of beer– Belgian Triple, Weisse, and Marzen. The $40 demonstration takes you through the basics of brewing the featured style of beer, and you get to take home a bottle of the home brew.

The beer tasting that accompanies the demonstration is of multiple commercial beers in the same style as the day’s demonstration. Thursday’s tastings were of Westmall, La Trappe, Gouden Carolus, Maredsous, Allagash, and Triple Karmeliet. A description of each beer was given before tasting and you get to take home your favorite beer’s glassware at the end of the presentation! Samples of the excellent sausages and mustards available at Wurstkuche were also passed around in between the beers.

These are good events for someone looking to get into home brewing, the novice beer drinker that does not like traditionally hoppy beers, or the experienced drinker that wants to taste multiple beers of the same style to better develop their palette. Once the demo is over be sure to ask for you LABW Bucket List sticker! That sticker will complete the “Learn More” category of the list and get you that much closer to a super-cheap bottle of UNITY!

Sunday the 23rd’s style will be the Weisse beers and the event will take place from 1-4pm. The following Thursday, the 27th, will be a demo on the Marzen (aka Oktoberfest) style. Reservations are not required, but are recommended.
