Last year the first Brew at the LA Zoo mixed beers, bands, and animals for an unforgettable summer’s evening in LA’s iconic Grifith Park, and the event is back for round two on August 10th!
We had a blast at last year’s event, even though huge crowds and long lines somewhat marred the first attempt at bringing a beer festival into the zoo. I don’t think the organizers fully anticipated the level of enthusiasm that the initial Brew at the Zoo would generate and we hope that they take steps to improve the flow of the crowd this year.
Currently, the details of this year’s event are sparse, thought we know it will be on August 10th beginning at 6pm and that tickets are $40 in advance ($30 for GLAZA members). Advanced tickets are available here. Expect a variety of Southern California breweries and a mix of bands from the local scene.
Our other main criticism of last year’s event was the limited access to the animal exhibits during the event, but it looks like they have addressed that for this year’s Brew at the Zoo. The following exhibit areas will be open to attendees during the after-hours party: Children’s Zoo, Eucalyptus Grove, LAIR, Elephant Plaza, Cambodia, Treetops, Carousel, Australia, Gorillas, & Orangutans.
We are super-excited for this event; even with long lines, early tap-outs, and huge crowds last year’s event was a magical night in one of our favorite spots in Los Angeles. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more details for this year’s Brew at the Zoo!
