At Saturday’s Stone Brewing’s 16th Anniversary Celebration Greg Koch, Stone co-founder Steve Wagner, and the New Brew Thursday crew held another Google Hangout to kick-off the party and talk a little about the history of Stone Brewing.
If you were not able to attend the Stone Brewing 16th Anniversary Celebration then you can at least get a little taste of the vibe at the festival. Greg goes into some detail about the birth of some of Stone’s most beloved beers (at 10:46), as well as the genesis of their newest experimental creation Enjoy By IPA (13:00). Greg and Steve confirm that there will be additional brewings of the Enjoy By: recipe so that more of the country will get a chance to try the beer (as this first brewing will be mostly limited to California).
Here is some more background on the new beer:
The official release of the Double IPA is today, and the bottles should be landing at local stores this week. Keep an eye out as these bottles will go fast, and you won’t get a second chance at it.
The guys also talk about the Stone Vertical Epic series of beers (15:29) and what to expect for the final release on 12-12-12, and what’s in-store for Stone Brewing in 2013 (18:15). Greg even mentions that they are aiming for a LA Beer Week grand opening for the Pasadena Stone Company Store; “Late September” can’t come quick enough!
Craft breweries generally do a great job engaging with their fans via social media, and it has become an important weapon in the battle against tasteless mass-market beer. We are big fans of the way Stone has embraced the live-streamed “Hangout” format, and we hope to see other brewers follow suit.
Did you make it to the Stone party? Let’s hear about it in the comments.
