While the Los Angeles enclave of Stone Brewing has been operating under the guise of a “soft-opening” since the beginning of LA Beer Week, the den of delicious treats is celebrating the official grand opening on Thursday October 18th!

In a day that all craft beer loving Angelinos have dreamed about Stone Brewing’s official presence in Los Angeles is finally open and operational! The Pasadena location is the third Company Store that Stone has opened outside of their main Escondido campus, and they all provide a wall of Stone taps for pints on-site or growlers to go, Stone apparel and merchandise, and a bottle fridge stocked with Stone’s core line-up and special release bottles.

There have been two special releases by Stone since the Pasadena store’s soft-opening, and the demand for last week’s special tap of the newest edition of Enjoy By IPA surprised the management. After the keg of the extremely limited-release IPA tapped-out,leaving many unfulfilled customers, Stone issued this statement:

Thanks to all those who came out for our special releases, and an even bigger thanks to those who came here to offer constructive feedback on how the day unfolded. We know that some of you walked away disappointed, and that’s never something we like to have happen. We in no way expected the turnout that we got, since turnout to other Stone Company Store locations wasn’t nearly as large as it was here in Pasadena. That, coupled with this being our first big special release (with not just one, but two awesome beers), ultimately led to a less than satisfactory experience for some, and for that, we do apologize. We’ve taken notes and are making great strides to help ensure that future events and releases can be run more smoothly and efficiently. Thanks again for the warm and overwhelming welcome to Pasadena… we’re really glad to be here.

Stone may have under-estimated just how thirsty LA has been for their beers, and hopefully the Pasadena location will see a larger allocation of future special releases. (The Stone Events Calendar currently shoes two upcoming special growler fills at the Pasadena store: 16th Anniversary with Green Tea Leaves on October 26th, and the highly anticipated release of 2012 Lukcy Basartd Ale on October 30th!)
