Get ready for a wild (and, from the looks of it, wet) December! New spaces to drink beers, new beers on their way to LA, and plenty of events to keep you busy. Our LA Craft Beer Scene update is blow the fold…
Golden Road Brewing Debuts New Exclusive Party and Event’s Space
Chloe’s is a new pub housed within the Pub at Golden Road, and the space is aimed at giving LA’s beer industry insiders a place to meet, relax, or maybe even get some work done. Caroline on Crack has all the details (and great photos) in a post for the newly revamped Los Angeles Magazine Digest blog.
We were on-hand for the grand opening party, and it is an impressive space indeed. From the downstairs pub area with tables and booths, to the upstairs pool-room and large meeting area, Chloe’s is sharply appointed with classic breweriana and a design that feels like a Bavarian mountain cottage.
It was great to see more evidence of Tony Yanow, Meg Gill, and their crew’s dedication to growing the LA beer scene, and Chloe’s is going to be a very valuable resource for organizing and strengthening craft beer in LA!
Golden Road Brewing is also debuting a new beer on December 1st. Tumbledown Shack is an American barleywine ale clocking in at a warming 10%ABV. Head down to the pub tomorrow to grab a taste at the BevMo! Holiday Beerfest.
Clown Shoes Brewing Coming to California
Massachusetts’s Clown Shoes Brewery (Facebook) has gained a sizable cult following in just three years, and there has been a growing buzz around their beers recently. It seems that all the cool-kids have already been turned-on to creative brews like Chocolate Sombrero, Muffin Top, and Bleacorn Unidragon.
The brewers have recently announced that the brand will expand their distribution into California by “sometime later this year or early in 2013,” and they are actively looking for a distribution partner for the California market.
Clown Shoes has also expanded their line of special release beers, improved the recipes for their year-round line, and are introducing barrel-aged varieties in 2013. They are quickly rising to the top of the Beer of Tomorrow Breweries to Watch list!
Boulevard Brewing’s Official SoCal Launch at Library Alehouse
We recently told you about Boulevard Brewing expansion into California, and on Wednesday December 5th you can meet Brewmaster Neil Witte at the launch party for the Kansas brewery at Library Alehouse.
Library’s taps will be pouring Boulevard beers for glasses and flights, and there will a four-course pairing menu available. More details at Library’s site.
Boulevard’s brews are already available at retail location across LA, and we’ve been able to sample their farmhouse ale Tank 7 and Double Wide, a decidedly malt-forward double IPA.
Eagle Rock Brewing Will Get You In the Holiday Spirit
Eagle Rock Brewing is pulling out all of the stops during the month of December with a slate of holiday activities to get you in the spirit! The festivities kick-off tonight at their end of Movember celebration and shave-a-thon. Bolt Barbers will be on hand to excise you “lip weasel,” and they are half-way to their donation goal, so if you want to see the Bakofsky bros get their faces shaved head to the team’s “Mo Space” on Movember.com to donate.
The fun continues throughout the month with a Cookie Exchange, a white beer and cheese pairing event featuring the dynamic Hot Knives duo, the annual Fugly Sweater Competition, and a post-Christmas Fruit Cake Toss!
It’s going to be a busy month on Roswell street; head to their events page for all the details and for the tap room’s holiday hours.
